Beauty bloggers and vloggers often keep up with the monthly favourites trend, outlining our most used products of the moment but so often we fail to mention products which never leave our routine since they're not new or fresh. I wanted to do a little run down of my most used body products and include those that perhaps haven't made the cut to be mentioned before.
It's basically a run down of my favourite lotions and potions, notably absent is my Soap & Glory Righteous Butter which I absolutely love but is just so expensive on a cost per use scale so I switched it for the lotion equivalent which definitely provides more for your money. That being said I'm about to slather myself in the butter formula and lay on the sofa til bed. Ahhh...bliss...
As promised my week of skincare posts is ending with my 'Skincare In Action' video that went live yesterday. For those of you that haven't already seen it.. here it is...
I wanted to get this up before I went out so no time to list everything I'm afraid.. sorry!
I will come back to it tomorrow but here's everything I used to create the look above. The video tutorial is in the process of uploading but I'm staying out tonight so I wont get chance to update this until the morning. Which means I wont see you before.. so HAPPY NEW YEAR! Check back this time tomorrow if you're interested in shades and more info :)
I've really rediscovered my love for red lips this Christmas so it seemed only right that I wear them in my Holiday tutorial this year. For my eyes I used a similar technique as I do everyday.. I define just above my crease in an attempt to widen my eyes, classic winged liner and a slick of festive glitter...
What I used for this look...
MAC Paint Pots in Morning Frost and Chilled On Ice
Urban Decay Shadows in Last Call and Smog
2True Easyglide Khol Eyeliner in Black
Rimmel Exhaggerate Liquid Liner in Black
MUA Glitter Eyleliner in 4 (gold)
Loreal Volume Million Lashes Mascara
Daniel Sandler Baby Jet Mascara
MAC Sheertone Blush in Plum Foolery
Urban Decay 24/7 Lip Pencil in Gash
17 Ultimate Volume Lipgloss in Very Berry
To see how I did it watch the video tutorial below...
I know the title "Island Breeze" totally betrays the season but I've had this palette for the longest time and only just got around to filming a tutorial with it. The colours are lovely pastel shades which unfortunately don't seem to translate well in photos but I think the video picked them up well and I'm really pleased with the overall look. I'm looking forward to winter but that doesn't mean I'm going to give up on the glow just yet.
17 Wild Metallic Shadows in Wild Silver and Wild Midnight Blue
2True Easyglide Khol Liner
HD Brows Palette in Vamp
Maybelline One by One Mascara (top lashes)
Daniel Sandler Baby Jet Mascara (bottom lashes)
Urban Decay Cream Highlight in Moonshine
Benefit Boxed Powder in Moonshine
MAC lipstick in Angel
I really wanted to do a tutorial with my new Wild Metallic shadows from 17 and it ended up kind of "costumey". In pictures it looks pretty wearable but it was a bit on the garish side for my liking so I would be more likely to whip this out for an upcoming Halloween party than a night out.. you might feel differently.. each to their own. Either way the shadows were pretty good. A little difficult to work with as they don't seem to set so they're not easy to layer and as the evening progressed you might smudge them. They do give a lot of bang for your buck though. I am looking forward to trying some different shades from the range as just between the two I picked up the formula is very different. The Wild Silver is more of a metallic block silver where are the Wild Midnight Blue is a dull, sheer dark blue with lots of glitter. Both look totally different which is a nice contrast but I expected the range to be the same shade to shade. The silver was definitely easier to blend so I'm hoping the neutrals I want to go back for are more like that. Although they do crease without a primer and are prone to sliding around on your eye if you are a glitter-phobe like me these are a great way to achieve that sparkle without the dreaded fall out of a powder shadow.
I've had so many requests this year for Hallowe'en tutorials... well.. I did a lot last year.. some good some VERY bad and I figured most of you wont have seen them so... here they are!
I've had several requests for a full face of drugstore makeup and a couple for "first date" looks so I thought I'd kill two birds with one stone. I'm uploading my tutorial to YouTube now but it's a bit blurry (I've had it with trying to film using my SLR) so here are some photos of the look and a run down of the products I used. Hope it's helpful.
I used mostly MUA, their new pro range has some fab stuff. I threw in my new 2true liner as an alternate as I don't have a basic black from MUA and I must say I was impressed. I'll be using that again! I love the overall look but the standout discovery for me has to the mosaic blush. When I first bought it I didn't think much of it, it didn't seem to have an colour pay off when I swatched it and I don't think it ever even made it on to my face. Well... I'm very glad I used it in this tutorial 'cause it's awesome! It gives a really sheer wash of colour and a beautiful sheen, not sparkly at all just glowy, I wish they did a neutral highlight powder in this formula because for £2.50 that would be my number one drugstore product. I have a mosaic bronzer too so I'll be trying that out tomorrow. Just goes to show you should give things another go.. I am often too quick to judge and once something is put away in my collection it could be lost forever.. I would have been seriously missing out.
I also want to point out I used a tiny bit of lipstick with the gloss to create a more tinted lip.. this lipstick is a really bold pink when used normally.
I have been inundated with requests (I did ask for them) in the last few days so in an effort to make my way down the list here's the first one ticked off. A quick makeup look for Busy Mums was requested so here it is.. although not limited to Mums. We all have those days we don't have a lot of time to get ready.
Everything is pretty much same 'ol same 'ol but for a couple of things..
Benefit Dallas on my cheeks.. I'm really feeling this for Autumn.
MAC Viva Glam V lipstick... still my fave everyday colour to avoid the washed out uber-pale look!
So many of you commented on my updated makeup room video that I'm so organised and neat... well... I'm not! To give you an idea of what my vanity looks like on a day to day basis here's a picture...
Told ya so! And for those who missed that video you can watch it below
I even got some shots of Lee's outfit today (he's been a busy boy interviewing for new jobs) would any of you be interested in a boyfriend outfit of the day?
I look massive today but I feel surprisingly slight given that I have 8 weeks to go. I don't feel pregnant enough! Just another 2 weeks at work and then I have a little rest at home before baby arrives... and boy am I looking forward to it. My work isn't too taxing right now.. I'm kind of phasing out but it can still be pretty stressful at times and I am not dealing with stress well. By far the worst pregnancy symptom is breathlessness and whenever I concentrate on anything I hold my breath which as you can imagine.. makes everything worse! Anywho... on to my outfit...
Cardigan : Zara
Vest : H&M
Maxi Skirt : Primark
For my makeup today check out the quick video below...
Bump Shot
One last note... the new H&M stuff is online today,
LOVE IT!!!! Go check it out... I am so in to H&M right now.
Some of you may remember me blogging about a video I did the makeup for back in February. I shared some pictures from the day with you here. Well I thought you'd be interested to see the final film. It's been finished for some months now but I only just found the YouTube link to get it up on my blog so... here it is..
The whole thing was done so beautifully and it was a really fun thing to be a part of. Since that video was shot Yaelle and her scarves have been featured on Vogue.com so one day soon when she's a huge success it will be lovely to say I knew her once.
As I've mentioned in previous posts about her stuff I was never really that interested in Silk Scarves but they are just so gorgeous and unique they really do tempt me. Check out yaelle.co.uk to see for yourselves. They are a little pricey with pieces starting from £85 but if, like me, you could spend that and not even know what it went on then it would be an investment in something beautiful that you would keep forever.
Hey Guys!
How excited am I?
I ordered my new camera today... it's a Nikon L110
I don't need an SLR but wanted something more than a point and shoot, this is a hybrid, it's what they call a "bridge" camera. I'm sooo crazy excited for it to get here. I never normally watch my own videos but I thought I should check the quality so I watched one and it's not great! sometimes the quality seems better than others which I'm assuming has a lot to do with the lighting. I figured I put so many videos out and so many of you lovely people watch them, you deserve for them to be a decent quality.
So this is the camera I've ordered, I love the shooting modes there are and it films in 720p so I will be able to upload in HD more often, although it will take longer to upload and probably longer to buffer for you to watch... ahh you can't have everything.
Has anyone else used/got this camera, any tips/pointers/reviews you wanna share with me please leave me a comment.
I'm currently searching for inspiration for my next video! watching mtv, trawling through google images etc etc..
I've bought an absolute TON of stuff on ebay recently so I'm gearing up for a huge haul next week or perhaps the week after (some stuffs international) and I've been making some DIY makeup storage so my first makeup collection/storage video will be up soon too! I've had a couple of requests I've not done yet... what's in your handbag is one ... I plan to do that one once I've been back to work 'cause since I've not been working I've not really been carrying a bag.. I've seriously been like a recluse... awful!
I'M CHOOSING MY GIVEAWAY WINNER TODAY!!! it's so hard I may end up splitting the prize in two.. lol.. we'll see! anywho... if you have any video requests let me know... I might film today... need to get some vids up for the weekend xxx
I feel like such a slacker not having updated my blog in well over a week. I'm suffering a major breakout right now so vlogging is OUT OF THE QUESTION! even though i have so many videos i need to film... so blogging shall be my outlet until my skin is clear again.
I finally got a start date for my job YAY! this is good for me and my bank balance but not so hot for my subscribers... i won't have much daytime filming time :s
I'm gonna try and get some filmed in advance to kind of back me up in case I can't film for like a week but I'm gonna miss vlogging and updating my youtube all the time :(
So excited to start work though... I'm definitely gonna do a video on my transformation from everyday slacker to working girl ;)
on the ttc front it's been driving my fiance mad!! he feels like I should be pregnant already.... it's only been 3 weeks...so we're both trying to forget about it best we can...it's tough though.
It's been decided we will get married in london as soon as our divorces are both final... i have my dress i've chosen my shoes and i'm going to do some hair looks on video soon for you guys to help me choose ... i think i know what i want though... i'm going for a kind of flowy 60s vibe and for the hair an updo with side swept bangs/fringe ... but that's for a whole other blog entirely... it could happen as early as late august/early september and i can't wait... the dress I have will allow for a bump in case I have one (fingers crossed)
anywho
hoping to redesign ny blog in the next few days and by tomorrow have some new videos up...
see you later
