BLONDE AMBITION

I'm doing something a leeeetle bit reckless... I'm bleaching my hair. I must be crazy! It's in much better condition right now thanks to Lee Staffords wonder treatment but it's still a dangerous to be messing around with it when it's been so damaged. All the same that's just the kinda gal I am and I have a hair appt booked on Saturday to have a bit of length chopped off so hopefully that will help :).
Sooo... while I sit here typing with the bleach still in my hair I am googling blonde celebs for my new hair-spiration and I do believe I've found it...

The beautiful Reese Witherspoon

So wish me luck on my blonde crusade
Will post results verrry soon

Caramel Calling...

I am writing this post with Scott Cornwalls Colour B4 in my hair and hoping it will lift my colour enough to work towards a lovely caramel switch for spring/summer.
I have always wanted to do this properly but every time I have tried it it has ended up flat and boring looking... I think maybe once I have my base colour this time I may take the plunge and actually make a visit to the salon. Big money though and I really loathe spending £££ on stuff like that. I know many will disagree with me but I figure I've made enough mistakes to have learned a thing or too surely...

So this is what I'm looking at right now, a light-medium brown with caramel highlights and possibly chocolatey lowlights.. what will actually turn out is another thing altogether.

So what colour are you guys turning as the weather warms?

There's a Mousse loose aboot this hoose!

So I thought it was about time I tried this mousse thing everyone's buzzing about. Most companies are bringing out their own versions now and I thought I'd give Loreal a whirl..

Take one willing participant...
A bunch of instructions in a variety of languages...
The apparatus looked cool and new... always generates hope
...An idea of what I'm looking at achieving
Once Put together it was lightweight and didn't seem to contain as much product as a usual cream/lotion colourant.. The bottle felt substantial but the product within did not.
 Here are my roots before..
And my very damaged and much lighter ends..
It didn't feel like I was going to have enough of the product to cover my hair, it was much like any other mousse.. it disappeared into my hair and didn't really spread. I wasn't keen on the application at all.
Here's the colour I am left with..
I like it but it doesn't have much in the way of depth, the shine is nice but the conditioner included is nothing special at all... nothing compared to nice'n'easy

The ends do look healthier but I'd put that down to the blow dry more than the conditioning treatment or the colour itself.

Overall I'm disappointed. I expected a whole new way of colouring my hair, I expected a huge lather of foam (as shown on the box) Nothing about this product made me want to repurchase.. the colour is "so what" .. I can get the same elsewhere, My hair did feel soft after the blowdry but it usually does after a fresh colour.
The one and only saving grace is that this is not heavy, it all washed out and I didn't feel like it left any residue. When I colour my hair it ALWAYS takes at least two washes before it's gone but this left my hair feeling light and bouncy which was a nice change.

I'd be really interested to hear from you if you've tried this product and if you've tried other brands that you feel have been better than this let me know, I'd be tempted to try the Nice'n'Easy version because I love their stuff but not if the consensus that all mousse colours are the same.. I have come away from this disillusioned. As a regular dyer of her own hair for more than 10 years this was a cool new twist on the process but it turns out just to be a gimic that doesn't really work any better than traditional colouring. So why change?

I didn't bleach or even use a colour.. check the video for more information on the product I used called "COLOURB4" it works absolute miracles!
You can see my before hair in the video and I'll post some after pictures below... the difference is astounding and my hair feels strong and soft.. I'm beyond pleased with the result...

colour control freak?

"Cher lives to do makeovers, it gives her a sense of control in a world full of chaos"
Never have truer words been spoken.

I was pondering today my hair colour addiction and the conclusion I came to was that the rest of my life is so out of my control, my personal appearance (especially my hair) is the one thing I can change on a whim.
I am in that phase again, my colour is fading, the ends are in bad condition and it's at an awkward length.. the shortest layers are WAY too short. The condition means the natural wave looks like I've not brushed it in weeks and I'm avoiding straightening to hopefully improve that but in the mean time I'm left with BAD HAIR!?!?

I want to colour it because the roots and red and the ends are light brown. My options are dye dark again (and face this same problem in 2 weeks when it fades) or go lighter... my plan of attack with this would be to use ColourB4. If you didn't already catch my video on this the last time I went lighter here is the link for you now.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxV9OBmLT14

I loved the effect it had.. it was amazing! it lightens so well.. I did go a ginger colour but I had a lot of colour build up and I was very dark... my hair is a lot lighter now.. I'm thinking if I did that I might be able to colour over a light brown and minimise the damage done by repeated dyeing and and the fading.

*unrelated side note*
I'm currently re-watching the proposal and ahhh Ryan Reynolds in dreamy!
*anyway...*

So I'm torn... my hair is quite literally doing my head in.
I know myself well enough to do something to in in the next week... if not day. If I had my car today, on my day off I would have surely driven to the local shop this morning to buy supplies.. probably best I don't.

now I'm going to make a cup of tea and eat the rest of these mini muffins that have been staring at me.. and continue to look for celeb hair-spiration on google images until 3.15 when I pick up the baby from school.

Have a great snow day y'all

Back to the DARK SIDE

so it was inevitable I would hit the bottle again right?
If you know me but AT ALL you know I get bored real easy... so I dyed my hair for the autumn/winter season. I chose a semi-permenant colour but am under no illusion that it will wash out to the dark blonde it was.. just might go a lighter brown in case I hated it.. but I don't.. I really like it! It's actually a lot lighter than I anticipated, and kind of red :/ that wasn't the plan! I've inadvertently followed the Xfactor red hair trend lol..
Ella helped me show off my new look...

My Hair-raising Plan...eek!

GISELE
My Hair Idol

Okay girls..
This is happening!!! I am going to attempt a DIY Gisele hair colour!!!
Am I crazy? Quite possibly but I'm gonna do it!
I'm bored of this base light blonde now, I think it washes me out :(
I've dreamed for YEARS of having my very own Gisle hair.. and this week I intend to make it a reality
so far I have purchased a tinting brush... that is all lol,
I'm going to buy 2 different shades, a dark blonde/light brown and a medium blonde, I am going to attempt to foil and hand paint my hair to recreate this look..
I am going to look up as many YT vids on foiling/lowlighting etc as possible to hopefully be a little more knowledgeable and prepared but either way it is happening so wish me luck!!!

How I care for my BLONDE HAIR

most of the time i leave my hair to dry naturally... it has a wave to it so once its dry i use aussie curl definition serum to define my waves and make my "do" look more "done" ;) ...

if i'm going to blowdry/straighten my hair i protect it first with aussie heat defence spray...

when i do straighten my hair i like to use a straightening serum to smooth my hair beforehand... i use a small amount to smooth fly aways when i've finished styling, i love this bed head control freak...

this is a fab trick i learnt about from belledujournyc
once a week i leave argan oil in my hair overnight! i wet my hair and towel dry, massage the oil into my hair and wrao it in a towel, i have to thoroughly shampoo the next day but it works wonders making my hair feel nourished and conditioned...

my favourite conditioner to restore shine and strength.. i like to massage it in to my ends and leave for 5/10 mins to work... my hair always feels healthier afterwards and it's an inexpensive treat...

What I use to keep brassiness and yellow tones at bay....
