Salon Style Hair...At Home?

Now I'll admit when I first saw these promo shots of Louise Redknapp for the new Schwarzkopf LIVE Salon Style I wasn't sure. I've known and loved her as a boho blonde for so many years this was a radical change but we all like to switch up our hair as seasons pass and Winter has obviously tempted her back to her darker roots. I do think she needs to bring back her bronzed glow but her new shade really makes her eyes pop where blonde never did and I tend to think warm brunette tones are more youthful...
but then I would say that wouldn't I?

Louise has been experimenting with darker shades recently and I think the chocolate brown she's settled on has brought back the natural shine to her bleached hair. I know that's what always steers me back to brunette! To achieve her new do she used the new LIVE Salon Style from Schwarzkopf (in case I hadn't already made that clear). It's the first professional quality hair colour to be developed for home use and promises to cover greys and leave you with healthy, shiny hair.
Whenever I've had an all over colour at the salon it does always look better than my own efforts at home.. but why? I always thought it must be application but apparently not. Schwarzkopf claim to have bottled it so I can't wait to give it a go. Those of you that have tried other products from the LIVE range in the past will know the results are intense and less prone to fade so I'm excited to see how they've improved upon an already winning formula.

For more info check out the video below...

You know I'm a huge advocate of home hair colouring, you name it, I've tried it so when something new is launched my poor hair knows it's set to play guinea pig. Fortunately LIVE have developed an app for you to test out one (or all) of their 20 new shades before taking the plunge. I tried it out..
What do you think?

Will you be switching up your shade this holiday season?

My New Hair

I love being brunette, it's healthier for my hair and it definitely suits me more than blonde... but sometimes it's a bit boring, y'know? That and the darkest dark shades I usually use tend to make me look even paler than I am (which is really pale). So I decided to lighten up as a pre-baby treat and this is the result.
What do you think?
A hairdresser friend of mine (she's actually StyleSoCoy's sister) came over and did it for me in the comfort of my own home which is always nicer when we're talking time consuming foils. I told her I wanted lighter blonde pieces in the underneath and overall highlights and I think it came out really nicely. When my hair moves you can see the lightest sections and dependant of how I style my hair it will reveal different highlight effects, it makes me boring brunette shade much more versatile. The damaged ends of my hair always fade quickest so it's evened out my colour too. I loved the glossy dark on top but the lower layers never matched so it was about time something was done and I really like how it's turned out.
It's not quite the Lauren Conrad brunette I was initially campaigning for but over time I think I'll have more blonde in the underneath to achieve that contrast look.

Before and After
You can't ignore the difference in skin tone and I swear this is the exact same makeup I'm wearing in both photos. Ok so the lighting's different but neither were taken with flash.. the warmer shade just really brings out the colour in me. It's perfect for Autumn/Winter and most importantly I like it!

Project Profile Picture

After a conversation with Fee (makeupsavvy.co.uk) on Twitter about how she felt her appearance had  changed over the years I took a peek at my Facebook profile pictures and it turns out I'm quite the chameleon myself. Nearly every one of these was taken before I started blogging and vlogging so it just goes to show I've always been one for switching up my image. I love photos for this reason, you can look back and judge what style really suited you with more objectivity than you could when you were sporting said style. You can see what hair colour made your eyes pop and what just didn't go. You can see that wearing tight dresses did not make you look skinnier and you can see that sometimes it's better to "embrace the pale" than look like a Jersey Shore reject. This is just a selection of photos from the past maybe 5 years... this doesn't include any of my teenage looks where I dabbled with the "goth"trend or sported the (very popular at the time) croydon-face-lift. We've all had our disasters and I love Facebook for keeping them on record for all to see. I'd like to suggest you all give this a go.. it's eye opening!

Blonde v Brunette

It's been my ultimate beauty question.
Blonde/Brunette, Brunette/Blonde, To dye or not to dye... or bleach as the case may be
I love to change my look but the time has come for me to settle down. After my last hair mishap I got a little scared and I think the decision needs to be made once and for all. Am I a blonde or am I a brunette? Naturally I'm somewhere between a dark blonde and a medium brown so that doesn't really help me but I was playing around on iVillage and their virtual makeover helped me create these...

In my opinion it's clear that blonde is just not me... maybe once but not anymore plus it's just too high maintenance and hard on my hair. I intend to stay Chocolate brown throughout my pregnancy and if I can last 9 months.... maybe I can last forever???

Do any of you have this relationship with your hair?

Embracing The Pale

So this winter I decided it was about time to embrace the pale. Everyone seems to be going for the year round perma-tanned look these days and nice as it is to have a "healthy" glow I hate the patchiness that fake tan leaves as it fades and that's not to mention the risk of streaks if it's not applied correctly.Of course the sunbed is an option but sun damage is a fear for me.. purely for cosmetic reasons.. I'm a vain creature and would hate to look back when I'm 40 and know I could have done something to prevent my wrinkles.
So I shall continue to embrace the pale over the coming months and try my darndest to stay away from the St Tropez and the Fake Bake ... even the Xen Tan I've heard such wonderful things about. I figure if these celebrity beauties can do it... so can I! Who's with me?

No No No! or...Yes?

I'm a terribly indecisive, you might know this about me already!
Yesterday I was all set.. definitely going blonder for Christmas.. now, I'm almost certainly staying dark.
I love Leighton Meester's hair, she has done blonde in the past but I'm browsing her hair pics to keep me on track now and thought I would share my favourites...

The brunette shades really bring out her eyes but the lighter tones she favours really give her a glow.
I am stuck whether to redye to stick with what I have.. it's fading in a strange way right now .. I have red roots and light brown ends.. I will see how long I can put up with it for..
All the while keeping in mind Leighton and her glossy locks to get me through.

what colour are you this christmas?

colour control freak?

"Cher lives to do makeovers, it gives her a sense of control in a world full of chaos"
Never have truer words been spoken.

I was pondering today my hair colour addiction and the conclusion I came to was that the rest of my life is so out of my control, my personal appearance (especially my hair) is the one thing I can change on a whim.
I am in that phase again, my colour is fading, the ends are in bad condition and it's at an awkward length.. the shortest layers are WAY too short. The condition means the natural wave looks like I've not brushed it in weeks and I'm avoiding straightening to hopefully improve that but in the mean time I'm left with BAD HAIR!?!?

I want to colour it because the roots and red and the ends are light brown. My options are dye dark again (and face this same problem in 2 weeks when it fades) or go lighter... my plan of attack with this would be to use ColourB4. If you didn't already catch my video on this the last time I went lighter here is the link for you now.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxV9OBmLT14

I loved the effect it had.. it was amazing! it lightens so well.. I did go a ginger colour but I had a lot of colour build up and I was very dark... my hair is a lot lighter now.. I'm thinking if I did that I might be able to colour over a light brown and minimise the damage done by repeated dyeing and and the fading.

*unrelated side note*
I'm currently re-watching the proposal and ahhh Ryan Reynolds in dreamy!
*anyway...*

So I'm torn... my hair is quite literally doing my head in.
I know myself well enough to do something to in in the next week... if not day. If I had my car today, on my day off I would have surely driven to the local shop this morning to buy supplies.. probably best I don't.

now I'm going to make a cup of tea and eat the rest of these mini muffins that have been staring at me.. and continue to look for celeb hair-spiration on google images until 3.15 when I pick up the baby from school.

Have a great snow day y'all

Kardashian Style Envy

If ever I wanted a sister it is when watching The Kardashians!!!
These girls have it ALL...
They have beautiful long glossy locks..

Khloe really suits this side fringe, I think it slims her face and gives her a more feminine, bouncy look.
Kim has experimented with bangs and I like it! They really frame her eyes, sexy!
Kourtney changes her style up less than the others but she has found her winning formula.. why mess with that?
They have perfectly bronzed, glowing makeup...

This is a GORGEOUS picture of khloe,
really sultry, smokey yet golden..
Kim has her look down.. it's ALL about the lashes and usually a smokey eye but I found this really natural yet dramatic look, beautiful.
Kourtney, the most tanned, lined eyes, pale lips, she's got it, once again, why change it?

These girls know whats suits them and they stick to it..

Khloe loves her ayesemetric dresses,
They balance out her proportions and are a really flattering shape on her..
Girl loves her gladiator heels too!

Kim is no stranger to the boyfriend blazer.
It's her go to cover up whether on the red carpet or jetting off in style..

Kourtney loves her mini dresses and her florals.
I don't know if it's a nod to her time in Miami but she certainly has the legs to pull it off... even post baby!

Love them or hate them they are HUGE..
And how could you hate them?..
To quote a Dallas Diva's and Daughters
"Don't hate me 'cause you aint me"

They're fabulous!
