Susie Amy's Latest Role?

Ok so this may well be a totally pointless post for some of you (most of you?) but for those in the dark like myself I had to whizz something up as soon as i made my 'discovery'. I was looking for reviews on Phyto hair care - you know the stuff Laura from buynowbloglater always raves about? - and stumbled upon blusherandblogging. This is generally how I like to find new blogs.. totally organically and with no recommendation while looking for something of mutual interest. So there I am thinking this girl looks awfully familiar and it hits me.. It's only Chardonnay from Footballers Wives - I loved that show! Please let me be clear, I make this reference only to jog the memory's of those in my position, I do not intend to undermine her recent acting roles or what is a very successful beauty blog but y'know.. to me she's Chardonnay! Being a (proud) member of Handpicked Media myself I was shocked further to learn she is also. I regularly trawl through the blogs on their beauty page to find new people to follow so how I have missed her I do not know.

Anyway.. I will stop rambling and get to the point. I would have course usually just tweeted.. 'go and check out this blog' etc etc blah blah had it not been for her brand new YouTube channel which I thought deserved a blog post. Being new there's not a lot there yet but she's lovely to watch and very budget friendly - nice surprise - which is why I felt the need to share! I will embed one of her videos below as a taster if you will but I urge you to go and subscribe to her channel immediately. I can see her taking off in the 'community' much the way amodelrecommends has due to her celebrity status and assumed Makeup Artists tips. Her blog has been up and running since September last year and as you'd expect it has gathered a fast following but that's for good reason. Celebrity aside it's a really good read, she's tried a lot of products and is just as much beauty-junkie as you or I so whether you a watcher or a reader go and take a look!

Hair Envy

I have always loved Katie Holmes. I long for her colouring but know that much as I try... I can't change my pasty white skin.. I can however emulate her beautiful, shiny locks! She's been a constant hair-spiration to me and for someone that craves change she helps to keep me away from the evil bleach.
Today I made a purchase I've been umping and aching about for some time.
I bought a set of Halo Hair Extensions!

They were £49.99 and my absolutely final purchase before our Vegas trip.. I swear!..maybe
I bought the 16in clip in's in Chocolate Brown which once again found me googling pictures of this lovely lady in anticipation of their arrival. My hair is faded now and I will likely have to dye it to get them to blend well but I can't wait to swan around the Vegas strip swishing my hair and feeling very glamorous. Once they arrive (tomorrow according to the FAQs) I will of course post my first impressions of quality etc but from reviews I've read online I don't imagine I'll be disappointed.

I've never bought extensions online before so I'm a bit nervous to see them but they have a satisfaction guarantee and whether I dislike them or they are just a terrible match they are happy to accept returns which is one of the reasons I chose them.

Have you ever tried Halo Extensions??

Salon Style Hair...At Home?

Now I'll admit when I first saw these promo shots of Louise Redknapp for the new Schwarzkopf LIVE Salon Style I wasn't sure. I've known and loved her as a boho blonde for so many years this was a radical change but we all like to switch up our hair as seasons pass and Winter has obviously tempted her back to her darker roots. I do think she needs to bring back her bronzed glow but her new shade really makes her eyes pop where blonde never did and I tend to think warm brunette tones are more youthful...
but then I would say that wouldn't I?

Louise has been experimenting with darker shades recently and I think the chocolate brown she's settled on has brought back the natural shine to her bleached hair. I know that's what always steers me back to brunette! To achieve her new do she used the new LIVE Salon Style from Schwarzkopf (in case I hadn't already made that clear). It's the first professional quality hair colour to be developed for home use and promises to cover greys and leave you with healthy, shiny hair.
Whenever I've had an all over colour at the salon it does always look better than my own efforts at home.. but why? I always thought it must be application but apparently not. Schwarzkopf claim to have bottled it so I can't wait to give it a go. Those of you that have tried other products from the LIVE range in the past will know the results are intense and less prone to fade so I'm excited to see how they've improved upon an already winning formula.

For more info check out the video below...

You know I'm a huge advocate of home hair colouring, you name it, I've tried it so when something new is launched my poor hair knows it's set to play guinea pig. Fortunately LIVE have developed an app for you to test out one (or all) of their 20 new shades before taking the plunge. I tried it out..
What do you think?

Try it for yourself here

Will you be switching up your shade this holiday season?

Schwarzkopf LIVE Salon Style is available nationwide now RRP £5.99
You can purchase from Boots.com right now for £3.99 here

My Hair..

My hair has finally grown to what I'd describe as "mid-length" and the last thing I want to do it cut it but I really want a change. I love the ombre look but I don't think it looks great on shorter locks and I have lots of layers so I'm not sure it would work. I want to lighten up while still keeping a rich brunette tone throughout, I've been too blonde in the past and it washes me out. I like my hair dark but it can make me look so pale.. I just want something I little different. I love this highlighted look LC's rocking (below) and am hoping to achieve something similar with the help of my hairdresser friend who's visiting tomorrow. The day before my hospital visit may not be the optimum time for making changes like this... after all the first baby pictures will be around forever so I'm keeping my fingers crossed I don't hate it. In the meantime if any of you have any fabulous colour suggestions/pictures for me I would LOVE to see them... leave me a comment!

What's Sexy?

It's a question that will get you a different answer everytime you ask it so I thought I would put it to my readers! What IS sexy? We beauty junkies do a lot in the name of vanity but what are you striving to achieve? What do you think is attractive? I change my mind all the time, Come summer I want to be tanned and Victoria's  Secret - esque but when the colder weather breaks I favour a more "pale and interesting" look. There are so many different styles out there...

Vintage Vixen

Sunkissed and Sultry

Plastic Playmate

Tattood Temptress

Good Girl

What do you think is the ultimate one?

Oh! Olivia Palermo

Until now I feel I have totally missed out on the Olivia Palermo love-fest that has swept the fashion community. I disliked her intensely in The City and switched off because of her and her alone. In spite of this I find myself strangely drawn to her. She looks pretty darn fabulous in everything she wears and her hair... *sigh* her hair! Now I'll admit she has worn some pretty terrible outfits (in my opinion). She definitely pushes the boundaries of her personal style but all the same.. here are some of my favourite shots of her...

She just makes it look so effortless... you can see why I hated her for so long!
I am seriously lusting after her glossy locks too. The worst thing is my hair is very similar to her natural colour and I have dyed it for so long it's probably never going to grow out to its natural state because I just don't think I could stand the regrowth but oh how I wish I could. Actually while I'm wishing for things I wish this hair colour had been trendy when I was 11 and still had it!

PS

Is it me or does she look really similar to Willa Holland from The OC?
No? Just me then.

Hair-Spiration - Ginnifer Goodwin

The time has come once more when I've wavering about my hair and I need something to sustain me... something to keep me focused, a great hair idol!
I saw "something blue" blue at the weekend and thought Ginnifer Goodwin was just so cute. Although her hair wasn't so awesome in the film I've found some beautiful pics to keep me going through this time.

I'm redying my hair tomorrow with my staple shade (Nice'n'Easy Perfect 10 Medium Brown - looks very dark on me) and my extentions to match for my night out on friday so watch this space for hair pics very soon!

to Red or not to Red?

Lets set aside the damage I did to my hair with all the bleach and how I should leave it alone and just think about this... red or not red? haha
My hair is fading and a rate of knots so why not go for a bit of a crazier colour while it's likely not to last?
I have always coveted Ashlee Simpsons red hair and think she's one of the few people that suits it over any other colour I've seen even though it's far from her natural shade. I have dabbled with red in the past (see video below) but it faded and I decided to stay brunette but I liked how it looked... what do you think? I have a colour on stand by I'm just waiting... deciding... googling... hmmm...

Ashley Olsen Hair Envy

I have my hair appointment tomorrow and I've been doing a little research... I've been growing my hair for so long but it has no shape and it's not in great condition so it needs a cut... why not go for an actual style?
When I found these pictures of Ashley Olsen I nearly cried for cutting my stupid fringe... I really love this style and intend to get it cut to about this length, a kind of long asymmetrical bob but it wont look this good with a fringe :( I will be resigned to clipping it back and hoping for the best.

So... what do you think?
I'm open to suggestions and need a good picture to take with me so if you guys have any ideas post links or what have you in the comments.
For those of you waiting to see how my blonde worked out... keep your eyes peeled, the monster blog post is coming very soon

BLONDE AMBITION

I'm doing something a leeeetle bit reckless... I'm bleaching my hair. I must be crazy! It's in much better condition right now thanks to Lee Staffords wonder treatment but it's still a dangerous to be messing around with it when it's been so damaged. All the same that's just the kinda gal I am and I have a hair appt booked on Saturday to have a bit of length chopped off so hopefully that will help :).
Sooo... while I sit here typing with the bleach still in my hair I am googling blonde celebs for my new hair-spiration and I do believe I've found it...

The beautiful Reese Witherspoon

So wish me luck on my blonde crusade
Will post results verrry soon

Caramel Calling...

I am writing this post with Scott Cornwalls Colour B4 in my hair and hoping it will lift my colour enough to work towards a lovely caramel switch for spring/summer.
I have always wanted to do this properly but every time I have tried it it has ended up flat and boring looking... I think maybe once I have my base colour this time I may take the plunge and actually make a visit to the salon. Big money though and I really loathe spending £££ on stuff like that. I know many will disagree with me but I figure I've made enough mistakes to have learned a thing or too surely...

So this is what I'm looking at right now, a light-medium brown with caramel highlights and possibly chocolatey lowlights.. what will actually turn out is another thing altogether.

So what colour are you guys turning as the weather warms?

The Fringe Binge...

So I've been getting a little bored of my hair recently..
I've been brunette for a while and growing it out, it's slow and steady and the condition is improving all the time with the various protein treatments I'm using right now. I just feel like I need a change. It's been a while since I had a fringe... I dabbled with a side something for a while last year but I think it's time to take the plunge. A fringe is a big styling commitment but hey... what are headbands for?
These lovelies are inspiring me right now...

So what do you think?
Do I or don't I?

note
you should probably know if I opt for the chop I shall be chopping myself at home... eek!

XOXO

Embracing The Pale

So this winter I decided it was about time to embrace the pale. Everyone seems to be going for the year round perma-tanned look these days and nice as it is to have a "healthy" glow I hate the patchiness that fake tan leaves as it fades and that's not to mention the risk of streaks if it's not applied correctly.Of course the sunbed is an option but sun damage is a fear for me.. purely for cosmetic reasons.. I'm a vain creature and would hate to look back when I'm 40 and know I could have done something to prevent my wrinkles.
So I shall continue to embrace the pale over the coming months and try my darndest to stay away from the St Tropez and the Fake Bake ... even the Xen Tan I've heard such wonderful things about. I figure if these celebrity beauties can do it... so can I! Who's with me?

xoxo
