5 Minute Makeup Challenge

A few weeks ago Laura tagged me to do the 5 minute makeup challenge. I shy away from application type videos these days as they are not so well received and take much longer to film and edit than your average chatty equivalent but I enjoyed this. I'm pretty sure I've done it before but I can't find it so it must have been waaay in the beginning. Anywho.. here's what I used..

Face
Nars Sheer Glow in Mont Blanc
Benefit Erase Paste in Shade 2
17 Shine Control Pressed Powder
Miners Bronzer/Blusher Blend in Sunblushed

Eyes
MAC Tete-a-tint eyeshadow
MAC Wedge eyeshadow for brows
Rimmel Glam Eyes Liquid Liner
L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes Mascara
Daniel Sandler Baby Jet Mascara (lower lashes)

Lips
Miners Matte Factor Lip Paint in Peach

Brushes
Eyebrow Brush from QVS at Superdrug
F50 from Sigma (for powder)
F40 from Sigma (for blush)
*Sigma brushes can be bought here, use code GLAM2012 for 10% Discount

And here's the video...

My New Go-To

With a new baby you don't always have time to dedicate to making yourself up every day. I actually am blessed with the best behaved baby in the world and have as much time as I could need but with lots of visitors and lots to do I don't want to look or feel plastered with makeup. These are my new every day essentials for achieving a natural face that I think goes a long way to replacing a full nights sleep where beauty is concerned. It's quick and easy and I've already had so many comments on how well I look for Milo being just one week old. You have to fake it til you make it!

Garnier BB Cream in Light
Maybelline Superstay 24 Concealer in Light 2
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in translucent
Gosh Natural Blush in Rose Whisper
Bourjois Eyeshadow in 08
Benefit Silky Powde Eyeshadow in Soft Shoulder
Gosh Long Lasting Brow Pen in Dark Brown 001
2True Easyglide Khol Pencil Eyeliner
Maybelline One by One Mascara
Sigma Duo Fibre F50 Brush
Real Techniques Base Shadow Brush

I love the eyeshadow combination, it's not the best lighting but it's they go so beautifully together, I like the subtle shading to the crease. It's my new favourite quick look that's for sure.

For baby updates remember to check out my baby blog!

Outfit Month #15

I look massive today but I feel surprisingly slight given that I have 8 weeks to go. I don't feel pregnant enough! Just another 2 weeks at work and then I have a little rest at home before baby arrives... and boy am I looking forward to it. My work isn't too taxing right now.. I'm kind of phasing out but it can still be pretty stressful at times and I am not dealing with stress well. By far the worst pregnancy symptom is breathlessness and whenever I concentrate on anything I hold my breath which as you can imagine.. makes everything worse! Anywho... on to my outfit...

Cardigan : Zara
Vest : H&M
Maxi Skirt : Primark

For my makeup today check out the quick video below...

Bump Shot

One last note... the new H&M stuff is online today,
LOVE IT!!!! Go check it out... I am so in to H&M right now.

Sleek and Sexy Storage Solutions

Ahhh perfect storage.. it's the elusive dream we beauty junkies crave.
In truth I don't know if I'll ever be satsified with my makeup room set up but with the following pieces I've been obsessing over lately I think I'll come as close as is possible!

Most of it comes from the storage haven that is IKEA..
Micke Desk £60.26
I'm not keen on the right leg being open like that but otherwise this desk is the most perfect I could hope for! The drawers are just the right depth for makeup storage and the surface area is larger enough to have everything on hand and still comfortably fit my camera etc for filming.

Micke Drawer Unit £40.84
This is my solution to the open table leg that I dislike.. this drawer unit matches the desk, would offer further storage and is the same height so the unit would fit flush and the surface would be extended.
Expedit Bookcase £61.17
*drawers are available separately at £25.53
I would prefer this to the drawers! It would cost more to deck out with drawers/cupboards etc if I wanted them but I could use it as is just as a shelving unit!
I think I would probably place this on it's side behind me in my room so I can use it as a surface aswell as storage.. it would be more effective in the space I have.

Since I found the MUJI site a week or so ago makeup storage is all I've been able to think about! I love love love these Clear Cube dupes and they are available in several different variations, stackable and a fraction of the cost! The 2 drawer costs £10.95 and fits so much stuff. I am seriously considering putting an order in very soon!

So these are my current faves.. I think I might do this this month while I have a little time off to dedicate to the project. If any of you have any fabulous storage solutions you'd like to share please do! I'm on the hunt for a nail polish stand.. I think I'm gonna plump for a table top one as I'm struggling to find a wall mounted rack in the UK that doesn't cost a fortune.
I love to hear about everyone else makeup storage so leave your blog post links in the comments!

XOXO

Spring Cleaning..

Ok so it's not quite spring yet but I decided my makeup room needed a serious turn around.. I have so much more space now.. I've move out two pieces of unecassary furniture and organised as best I could.. I'm really pleased with it!

I have my wardrobes to organise next... This is just a glimpse.. I have a lot of wardrobe space.. It's just not being used to its full potential right now!

I really struggle to throw things out so I hoard and hold on to clothes I've not worn for years! Not anymore!! It's cut throat time.. This week if it's not fabulous - it goes! I will keep you updated on my progress as I organise!

Any wardrobe organisation tips are very welcome!

xoxo

NYE Sparkle

I haven't done a tutorial on youtube in what feels like forever! I wanted to get one done for Christmas but as I missed that I thought I'd better get on with it if I was gonna make it before NYE!
When I think of New Year I think of family, we always have a party with friends and neighbours and usually run with some kind of theme so I don't get to do the NYE party dress and sparkly makeup deal (this years theme is "bad taste" ugh) but if I was to go out on the town this New Year I would definitely hit the sparkly trend HARD!
I went for something that's still pretty subtle and wearable from a distance but upclose it's an explosion of glitter on your eyelids!
I used my new MSF in Comfort and elf HD finishing powder ( I LOVE) to give me a glowy, bronzed base.
I am really liking the Urban Decay Stardust shadows, they are packed with sparkly glitter and as it's so fine the fall out isn't as terrible because it's just a dusting of shimmer on your cheeks as opposed to full on chunks of glittery mess!I used 2true eyeliner in silver and UD 24/7 liner in Oil Slick. On my lips was a MAC gloss in Flurry of fun from the "to the beach" collection.
As my main eyeshadow base I used this TopShop palette which I must say I'm not impressed with!
It didn't blend well and the colours had little impact. They weren't heavily pigmented.. I guess I've just spoiled myself with the ultra blendable UD shadows I wear everyday but I don't know if I'll be using this again... Good job oit was on sale! You could use any light/silver and grey/black  colours to achieve the same look - with the quality of these I would say you'd probably get a better effect!
So that's my New Years Eve look!
You can watch the tutorial video here..
