MAC Glitter & Ice Must-Haves

This year hasn't been fantastic for MAC Collections in my opinion so I wasn't excited about the Holiday sets.. in fact I wasn't even aware of them until yesterday when they were already available online. I believe they launched in stores today. What appealed to me with this collection was the packaging first and foremost. Its got the classic clean MAC lines we all know and love but it's WHITE! It's like they've joined forces with apple and then sprinkled it in glitter... beautiful! I'm a sucker for anything festive and with names like Snowglobe I was sold almost immediately. I knew I had to have something in white packaging and I thought it would be tricky to choose but it really wasn't. There were other bits and pieces I wouldn't mind either but these are my top picks...

Mineralize Eye Shadow in Snow Season £16.50
Paint Pot in Morning Frost £14.00

Lipstick in Such Flare £14.00

Make It Perfect Brush Kit £39.50

Nail Laquer in Unconditionally Fabulous £10.00

Beauty Powder in Snowglobe £20.50

OK so that's a pricey shopping trip... I think my must haves will be the nail polish, the beauty powder, the lipstick and the paint pot which comes to...£58.50?... eek! Now I remember why I stay away from the MAC counter. Beautiful though!

Will you be picking anything up from the Glitter & Ice collection?

NOTD - Miners Plum

Plum, a beautiful, wearable raspberry shade. The easiest formula I've applied in a long time, I might have been able to get away with just the one coat. Even within one brand formula can be hit and miss so I'm really pleased with this one.
I'll remind you this is from the A/W collection I blogged about previously.
This is the only colour that's not *new* for the season. It's a relaunch but it's my favourite of the five.

You can shop the A/W collection here for at £2.99 each

New Nails from Miners - A/W '11

This week I received the new Miners A/W Nail Polish shades to review. When I first saw them online I couldn't wait to get my hands on them, they are so different to last years A/W collection. This time around they've gone for glossy opaque colours where as previously Miners have favoured the shimmery/frost finishes which I'm not entirely on board with. Before I even begin I love "Weekend in Paris" which may seem like a boring old red but it's a little on the pink side and different to any other I have in my collection. As we near the festive season I can't get enough of red nail polish. Without further ado.. here they are..

L-R - Fairytale of New York, London Calling, Bangkok Blues, Weekend in Paris and Plum

The first I tried was Fairytale of New York, it's the one colour I'd have never picked up so I guess I was out of my comfort zone. I wasn't expecting much and I wasn't exactly wowed. I don't think green is the best colour on me and this is not the autumnal shade I'd have chosen. It's more like a racing green. I really love the Miners formula, they go on nicely in two coats and are reasonably chip-resistant so I will definitely get through the rest of the collection and post as and when I wear them.

You can buy the new range from Miners.co.uk priced at £2.99 each

Have you tried anything from this budget brand?

My MAC Palettes

Now I know of course that these are not MAC palettes but since I got my Unii Palettes I have found them more user-friendly so my depotted shadows are housed there instead. I have two and I've separated them into neutrals and colours. There are a couple of Urban Decay colours mixed in but the majority are MAC.

First up my neutrals...
I've tried to organise them somewhat, my favourites are my matte shades so I put them all together.

Then my colours...
As you can see I have blues on the top, pinks/purples on the bottom and anything else in the middle.
My favourites from this selection would have to be Sumptuous Olive, Rule and Trax.

I actually don't get a whole lot of use out of my none-matte MAC shadows, I find the quality lacklustre compared to my favourites from the Naked Palette. MAC palettes are a bit of a collectors sport really and once you've started it's hard to stop but unfortunately there are definitely some duds to be found and they're not cheap so it can be disappointing. What are the hits and misses you've found at MAC?
I will swatch mine for another post and hopefully find some cheaper alternative offerings for you bargain hunters.

Talking of bargain hunting, is there a particular beauty product on your wish list right now that's just a bit more than you want to pay? Visit this post and leave me a comment, let me know what it is and how much you wish it was... who knows, maybe I'll be announcing a great deal on that very item soon! It will never work unless we get involved!

MAC - Quite Cute

So... I was so looking forward to The Mac WW collection but having seen some of the stuff now I'm not so much all about it. I was looking up other upcoming spring collections and how have I only just seen THIS?
I have never been so excited about a MAC collection! It's all pastels and beautiful-ness.
First up I'm going to need ALL of the polishes, they are so me, I love them! Purple is my favourite colour so the lilac lipstick and gloss will be an absolute must even if they turn out totally unwearable I am going to NEED them in my life! I really like what they've done with the mineralise blush's in this collection, very cute (duh) and the shades are so unusual, again... I'll be having the lilac. The peach lipglass is calling out to me too and the pale pink lipstick. I pretty much want everything from this one so I'm okay with WW not living up to the hype when I have this to look forward to.
What have you guys got your eye on?
It's just all so pretty.

XOXO

NYE Champale Delight

Alittle preview of my new tutorial video...
I loved my new Champale so much I had to try it out so I thought as it's NYE tomorrow it was the perfect time.
I took lots of photos trying to capture the glow but it's so hard... this is what I have... third picture down is a great shot of the sparkle in the Stardust shadow that is almost impossibly to photograph usually.

MAC Cham -Pale

Something terrible happened today.
MAC unexpectedly launched their new collection in stores and I spent money I shouldn't have on frivolous items...oohps. In my defence this collection is my favourite so far! I loved V/V but the colours weren't so wearable.. this is much more my style and each piece adds to whatever you already have in your makeup bag. You don't necassarilly need everything from cham-pale and you probably  wouldn't do a full face of shimmer and sheen (well... not every day) but you can mix and match with other stuff and give your existing looks a chic new edge! So as usually I took a couple of photos for your viewing pleasure and to look a little crazy..

Lipstick swatches Top-Bottom: Quiet Please, Tanarama, Flustered, Gel

And here are the things I picked up..

Special Reserve Highlight Powder in Rose Ole

Lipstick in Gel (permanent)

Paintpot in Chilled On Ice
This was difficult to swatch so I got a kind of blurry fingertip picture and an on-cheek shot.

Nail Laquer in Soiree

I'm totally in love with Cham-Pale .. I want it all but what I have has satisfied me.
I've heard really mixed opinions prior to its launch so I'm really interested to know what you guys think.
What are you planning to buy or have you already picked up?
This collection is not for everyone but as a neutral/metallics lover I can't think of a better collection to ring in the New Year.

xoxo
