Bikini Boot Camp

This is not something I usually blog about.. truth be told this is not something I've really ever struggled with but since Milo was born weight loss has been at the forefront of my mind. I know that baby weight doesn't just melt away overnight and I was happy to let my body do it's thing and let it come off in it's own time but I'm on a deadline and nothing is happening. In just over a month we're going to Las Vegas for our honeymoon and in the past 4 weeks I have lost not one pound. None of my pre-pregnancy clothes fit me properly yet and I am not comfortable getting in a bikini right now. It might seem that I'm rushing something that will happen naturally but I don't intend to cover up by the pool so in order to feel confident on vacation something must be done.

I HATE the word "diet" and have never successfully been on one for more than a day. I have always had great metabolism and I am nervous that a crash diet for the sake of a week away will leave me in a position where I have to diet to maintain my weight. That aside I think that eating healthily and cutting out junk for the next 5 weeks along with my twice weekly Zumba sessions and daily walks with Milo could really speed things up.

Today I purchased my first ever set of bathroom scales to track my weight. I've never been a believer in them as I never cared what I weighed as long as I felt comfortable in my clothes but at this point I had to know... how much do I really weigh? I'm not saying I've never weighed myself, that would be ridiculous! I would bring out the scales at my parents from time to time and my weight over the past ten years has gone something like this..

16-18 7st 12lb
19-22 8st 4lb
23-25 8st 9lb

So I know that over time I've steadily gained weight but I maintain the same weight for long periods of time in between. The only thing that changes is my age and I think that as you get older you do just tend to retain more weight. So after having my second child I'm anticipating a natural increase and would be happy to settle and around 9st. I think I look my best at 8 but I'm just not willing to work for it. Right now I'm tipping the scale at somewhere around 10st 4lb. It's been 3 months since Milo was born and only 4 weeks since I've officially been able to exercise so I know these things take time and I may be asking for a miracle but fat or fit I'm going to be poolside in a bikini I'd just like to know I did all I could to feel good while I'm doing it.

So anyway.. I can't do a full on diet but I could follow a meal plan for a few weeks and this is kind of a tester post to see how many of you would be interested in following my progress. My friend Kat at StyleSoCoy has been doing something similar since new year and you could say I'm inspired! I will start tomorrow.. I know it's Thursday but why does a diet have to start on a Monday? so let's have a show of hands.. who wants to see my weigh in, meal plan, before and after bikini shots (tmi?) here and who thinks I should put it all over on my baby blog (it is baby weight after all)

Thoughts?

Miss BB

  1. I've tried so many diets and find it so hard to stick to them, but at the moment I'm just trying to exercise more, eat healthier, and cut out snacks! It seems to be working, and I'm loosing about 1lb per week.

on the otherhand, I don't really think it matters what you weigh, as long as you feel comfortable in yourself and more importantly happy :-) Good luck xx

  2. You look fab regardless, although I know how you feel! I'm getting married next March but am on a mission to shed some 'comfort pounds' gained over the past few years! I am currently 10st 7lb and am aiming for 9st! A weight loss blog would be really helpful as I need all the inspiration I can get! Look forward to reading more on this! We can do it! Congratulations on your recent nuptials and most importantly on the birth of baby Milo! Much love, your top subscriber! Vicki xx

  3. I think its a great idea, I have two big events that require me to look my absolute BEST within the next six months, and so its very much at the front of my mind too! Also I find that knowing that someone else is trying to achieve the same goal is a good incentive!

  7. It's really hard to lose baby weight - I know. Your body changes so much with pregnancy. For me, in addition to working out, I used "My Fitness Pal" app on iPhone to track calories. It helped me lose every last pound of baby weight.

    Good luck!

  9. I don't know that much about baby weight but I recently went on a health kick to try and tone up and the most helpful thing I found was Julian Micheals 30 day shred. You can find it online and it kicks your butt for about 25 minutes but it's incredible. It slims you down and tones you up really quickly, perfect for bikini wearing in vegas. :) <3

  11. I know how you feel, i think the best way to reduce weight soon will be to cut down on ur carbs. No breads or so for a month and you will surely reduce weight. Stick raw veggies and grilled meat.
I know not the tastiest things in the world:P but cant help it .

  12. Oh, what a difficult position to be in with so little time left! I love the idea of NOT dieting but just cutting out the junk and continuing to exercise. I would suggest avoiding salt and drinking a lot of water. Also, fruit, like apples and grapes, which are excellent for getting the lead out, if you know what I mean! Good luck and have a wonderful vacation no matter what you weigh!!

  15. I think drinking green tea really helps.I find it easier to shed weight when i sip green tea all day..i usually have around 2 cups or if i know i wont have time i take the pills from Holland and Barret(green tea pills) and i know its healthy(lots of antioxidants) and helps lose the weight faster than usual. Also there are the water retention pills(HRi >Water balance pills>boots,superdrug,h&b..etc) that really helps me,i take them every now and then cause makes me feel lighter and help not holding on water in body(from period, eating a bit too much sugar and salt..etc)and are around £3-4 .When i take those i lose around 3-4 lbs a week by doing nothing different and i feel much better. Also not eating after 6 pm and having for dinner only a fat reduced soup(watercress ones are lovely and very light) or a garden salad with dressing of just a bit of vinegar and olive oil and maybe some shredded chicken makes a difference and after few days(a week) you should lose some pounds. And when i wanna lose weight FAST:fat free soups, green tea and spinach salads(also boiled eggs, boiled or grilled chicken and fish is accepted) and eat every 3 hours or so, so your metabolism wont slow down(have a boiled egg in morning, then in 3 hours have a mini yogurt or an apple/pear then for lunch have a light soup or salad or grilled chicken(small portions tho) and nothing fizzy or even diet ones.I lost 12 pounds in 2 weeks and a half,i always lose weight fast with this diet and didnt felt dizzy or anything like that(but i also went to gym almost everyday) xx
