Soap & Glory - Kick Ass Concealer

I have been so slow (in beauty blogger terms) to pick up my first Soap and Glory cosmetic item. What inspired me to finally take the plunge was the voucher in my big splendour gift set at Christmas offering 200 bonus points when you spent £10 on the S&G makeup range (well done Boots, your marketing worked!). I bought the concealer because it reminded me of the Bobbi Brown corrective concealer duo's and the quality was very reminiscent of my old favourite Benefit Boi-ing.

Usually when I shop for a concealer I look for a skin tone match as I would with a foundation so this was a totally different direction for me as it has 2 shades, neither of which are my 'match'. The left side is a peach toned under eye corrector and the right is a yellow toned redness corrector for blemishes and such. As well as the concealer you also get a setting powder and a little pad with which to apply it. It's a really substantial, expensive feeling product from the drugstore!

The image above shows the under eye concealer on the left and the anti-redness concealer on the right. Below you can see the left half of my (rather miserable looking) face is concealed and the right is not, I have indicated where each shade has been applied...

This being the first thing I've tried from Soap & Glory (makeup wise) I will definitely be trying some more. It really impressed me and I've not used another concealer since I bought it a month ago.

You can buy your own here for £10 from Boots online
The shade I have is light (if that wasn't obvious)

New face of MAC

I was given a sample of this foundation to try about a year ago and I loved it. I really liked my Studio Fix but it broke me out after using for only a week. When I questioned the MAC MUA she recommended I try Studio Sculpt for a medium to full coverage that wouldn't be too heavy for my skin. It's a gel-based formula and unlike anything else I have. It feels so strange on application, it doesn't blend all that easily but the finish is worth the extra effort. The first time I tried it it was midday before I realised i had forgotten to put on powder and I wasn't oily at all, really great for my combination skin. It lasted the whole day and felt weightless, I haven't been wearing it long enough to say whether it will break me out yet but I really don't think it will. It's so light, I don't see how it could.

Now the concealer... that was an impulse purchase. I knew I wanted to get the foundation and it just came out... "and I'll take the concealer too" ... this may have been a mistake! It's a very different texture. Somewhere between Benefits Boi-ing and Erase Paste. It's very thick so for those wanting a high coverage concealer it is great but it's a little chalky. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be a cream to powder but it feels that way. I haven't discovered a way to apply it lightly yet so it's too cakey for underneath my eyes but I think it will be ideal for covering redness and blemishes. My skin has been fab (touch wood) in recent months but I'm sure it will find a way back to  to how it was and this will come in handy then.

Do any of you use either of these products?

MAC - Most Wanted

Last week I was desperate to get my hands on some of the new Glitter and Ice collection from MAC but since I had to put off my shopping trip I've decided my money may be better spent elsewhere...
There are a few things I've wanted for a while... these are they...

Now OBVIOUSLY I'm not about to run out and get all this in one trip but this is my fantasy shopping list I'll keep handy when I next visit my local counter. I have wanted to try Studio Sculpt Foundation/Concealer since I bought the Studio Fix Fluid and it broke me out. I loved the coverage and the finish but I couldn't live with what it did to my skin. Apparently the Studio Sculpt is a lighter alternative as it's gel-based and hydrating so shouldn't have the same, ugly effect but does offer buildable-full coverage and a nice finish.
The eye shadows are just more must haves I'm told I "need" by bloggers far and wide and the brow set I will need to try before I buy. My brows are light and sparse, I'd love to find a quick way to groom them in the mornings but as yet nothing looks as natural as a powder which takes some time and requires a palette and brushes.. I would be over the moon if MACs brow set did the job in one swipe but I'm not holding out much hope. I want a pro palette quad because it's handier than the 15 palettes I have and I feel like I am more likely to rotate the shades and get more use out of what I have. Because I'm a palette fiend I'd likely buy quarry and humid in refill form. Lastly, Groundwork - I haven't found a paint pot I really love for daily use yet but this seems a light enough neutral taupe brown to be worn every day and the lip glass is the gloss version of my go to MAC lipstick so I must have it, right?

Have you got anything on my list?
Do you have any major MAC recommendations?
What are you currently lusting after?

YSL Touche Eclate for just £13???

I am so excited to tell you that right now on BuyaPowa you could bag YSL's Touche Eclat for the bargain price of £13!!! I'm even more excited because I asked you all both here and on my YouTube channel what products you would love for BuyaPowa to get at discount and Touche Eclat was something so many of you requested. It just goes to show that the system works when we tell them what we want. There were lots of other things we wanted of course and they want new ideas all the time so if there's one thing on your wish list right now that's just out of your price range PLEASE leave a comment for them to see.. I would love to see them bring on board another must-have that we demanded.
Ok.. on to the product.

I have tried it myself some time ago and like most people, loved it. The only thing that put me off repurchasing was the price. I tried other, cheaper versions from different brands but nothing really seemed to do the same thing so I gave it up as a bad job and moved on.
For those of you that have been making do with less effective alternatives or who just really want to try this cult product now's your chance.

To give you an indication of what else is available in this price range right now..

No7 Instant Radiance Concealer £13.50

Clinique Airbrush Concealer £15.00

But the original Touche Eclat could be yours for just £13!!!
If you're unfamiliar with how BuyaPowa works go to my blog post here where any questions should be answered.. for those already in the know here are the price points, before it even starts the price will be just £17.50 compared to the RRP £24.50...

You can view the deal and join the co-buy here and don't forget to spread the word if you do.. whoever brings in the most people will get theirs for FREE! Now that would be a bargain.
This is a fab deal to get on board for a relatively new company..
If they can do this.. what else could we ask for?

Friends with Benefit

You guys KNOW how much I love Benefit cosmetics..
It's come up in many tags and my earlier videos were pretty much Benefit only.
Well I'm finally getting around to posting my fabourite Benefit products, I of course made a video but there are so many it would have waaay over-run so I kind of blasted through it and here I will go in to more detail...
So here goes, please hold questions till the end x

So these are my favourite products by Benefit...
In order,
Dr Feelgood
I lovethis product, It's been gifted to every woman I know, I'd recommend it to anyone starting with makeup and not wanting to wear anything too heavy like a full foundation as it's a kind of mattifying balm but it also smooths lines and is a fantastic primer. It contains healing ingredients too so it's great for spot prone skin like mine!

Moonbeam
I know highbeam is a big bestseller for Benefit but I'm more of a golden girl and I love this, it's a kind of peachy sheen rather than a pink/white highlight and for me it's just perfect.. it lasts all day and you can wear it alone, under powder or mix it with your foundation for a gorgeous dewy glow!

Bo-ing (shade 2)
This has always been my favourite concealer.. it really is "industrial strength" it covers all manner of sins and is ideal for a really bad breakout and dark circles... both of which I often suffer from.

Badgal Lash
The biggest selling point of this product is the brush! this mascara wand is a magical one creating both volume and length.. my only regret is I'm yet to try the plum version (they also do brown)

Lipscription
This is a 2 piece set with a tube of lip buffing beads and a tube of lip caring balm ... together they really do create the softest lips your significant other will ever have kissed! the perfect partner for trendy bold shades!

Lipstick (ladys choice)
The creamiest lipstick ever, non drying and it's really nice wearing. This colour particularly for me is a lovely daytime shade, very polished and proper.

Lipgloss (life on the A-List)
The act I bought this in New York and the scent reminds me of that night is probably a big factor in my love ogf this gloss but its a really nice sheen over a niude lip and its sticky enough to stay put but liquid enough to wear off without going bitty or drying your lips.

Eyeshadow (Soft Shoulder)
This was a find for me when I was on the hunt for a nice warm brick kind of brown that I failed to find at mac. It's so versatile, it can be worn sheer or layered as a bolder colour and it really blends so beautifully.

It Stick
Ideal for pin pointing spots/ problem areas, I like this to carry in my bag as it's difficult to damage in transit being a solid pencil and all...I also like to use this as an eyeshadow primer.

Eyebright
The original eye brightener.. a great uk equivalent to NYXs milk pencil, good as an eyeshadow base, for lining your waterline to widen eyes and to adding to the inner corners of your eyes to perk you up a bit on those mornings you need it :)

here are the swatches...

I hope you enjoyed my review and love these products as much as I do..
Please leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts.

love always

Miss BB
xoxo
