Given my ever present ambition for long, lustrous locks you'd be forgiven for thinking this was another gimmick I was trialling in an attempt to boost hair growth and you wouldn't be entirely wrong. While I am very interested to see whether it effects the speed of growth I'm more concerned about the bald patches I've been left with post pregnancy...
Unfortunately I didn't have my DSLR to hand when I took these so they're not as clear as they could be but you get the idea. I'm sure there'll be some that say they're not bad but they're the only visible symptom.. my hair is falling out all over and it seems to be getting worse. When I wash it, when i brush it, even when I run my fingers through it I'm shedding hair left right and centre. I've tried not to use heat at all so I put my hair up and when I take it out the hair band is covered. I know this is normal, during pregnancy your body behaves in strange ways and most women will retain hair they'd usually shed and within 6 months after birth they lose all that hair. I know this because it happened the first time so I'm not overly concerned but if there's anything I can do to slow or halt the process I'm going to try it. So from today Alpecin will be my shampoo of choice and I will report back with my results. I'm really hoping it has extra effects and I've found a drugstore miracle for you all but only time will tell.
I've used it a couple of times already and I can tell you it tingles and feels like it's doing something. The spiel claims it keeps the hair in a suspended growth state for 24hrs and recommends you use it every day but it's primarily aimed at men and while they may not worry about dry ends we women do and this is anything but moisturising. I would probably work really well as a clarifying cleanser as it strips all the oil from my hair but like I said.. I'll give it a good run and let you know how I find it!
Available at Boots.com - link - for £5.35
Have any of you tried Alpecin? They have a large range of products which I may go on to try and I'll tell you a little more about in my follow up post but I'd be interested to hear from you if you've already tried anything or have any other hair loss remedies.

I'll be really interested to hear about the results with this. I lose masses of hair all the time too (even though I've not had a baby!) so I'm intrigued whether any products can unbalance the hormones and keep hair in! xx
ReplyDeleteI;e been eyeing this shampoo up for as long as I have seen it around, I just didn't ever bite the bullet and buy it, I was so excited when I saw you had purchased it, I feel I can always trust your opinion, and although I haven't had a baby, I lose hair so much, and my hair is already pretty fine, so its not a great thing, Id love to no how you go on with it and will definitely be trying it myself soon :)

I've been using this for about 2 weeks now pretty much every day, I'm not sure as to whether it stops hair from falling out, but I can definitely say that it makes your hair thicker!! I normally have really thin hair so it's a miracle. I've also noticed all the baby hairs around my hair line have also grown a fair bit so I'm really pleased with it!

My husband uses this. Its great for him :D
ReplyDeleteI am really intrigued about this especially the claims it makes hair thicker. My bf once told me about this as apparently a colleague used it in an effort to cure his baldness. I am not sure whether those claims are true but anything that adds thickness to my hair is worth a try.

Ooh i'll be very interested to hear the results!
ReplyDeleteim looking so forward to hear more about what you think about it!!Xx
ReplyDeleteUhm....I had a hair loss 2 years ago because of a bad diet! (I was 16!)
ReplyDeleteIt was tragic! Now I'm ok, I eat normally and my hair are fabolous! Besides my diet, I think also my hair care routine was bad...so now I avoid shampoo with sulfates and I use natural hair products! I know this shampoo....I think it's useless, maybe it works just because of the "Placebo" effect! Anyway, don't worry about it! If you always think about "Oh my God, I don't want to be bald!", the situation will get worse....Hair falls also because of stress...So relax, take your time (You've just had a baby!) and take care of your hair!
