Not So GLOSSY Box?

It seems the entire beauty community were out in force last month to celebrate the launch of the new Glossy Box. Every review you read or watched was a rave and the Full Sized Nars product they included in their debut package seemed to set the free advertising ball rolling. I joined before the first boxes were sent out but unfortunately missed the deadline so never received that all important starter box and was understandably disappointed. I suspected that the fantastic freebie would be a one off to hook in new subscribers to the service but I thought of it as a bonus for those who'd been lucky enough to sign up in time, not something you should expect monthly. However... when I did receive my first box last week I was still very much underwhelmed by its contents. Shower gel, a miniature OPI, a face serum (which I've since discovered you can request a free sample of online), a Lalique perfume (which I doubt would appeal to my beauty generation) and a travel sized can of Batiste. If I'm honest I think it was the Batiste that really got me.. It's a luxury sample service, I understand we shouldn't be expecting anything major but.. Batiste? It's quite possibly the least luxury brand out there! I could have purchase 4 full sized cans for the price I paid for the Glossy Box service! The only item I was pleased with was the OPI. Unfortunately by the time I'd decided it was a decent sample to receive  the whole experience was tarnished by the can of dry shampoo which seemed to be mocking me. I will say this.. The packaging of the products is fantastic and this one month hasn't put me off altogether I think it has just lowered my expectations to a level that next month a sample of Frizz Ease will be like a Chanel lipgloss. I think that they ruined it with the first month. If the first month hadn't have been so noteworthy we would have allowed them time to get it right... it's a new business after all but for those of us that weren't sent our first box for free or didn't sign up in time month two seemed like a bit of a slap in the face. They obviously know how the community works. People talk about the product, that's what they are counting on, that's how people heard about it, YouTube and Blogs are a hugely powerful marketing tool but then when they came to following up that massive launch it was like they chose to forget that we would all discuss and compare once again. I don't want to harsh too much on this company and I will not be unsubscribing just yet.. at very least I think they will have to make July's box great before the £2.95 P+P kicks in and people decide it's not good value for money. There's also a new service on the horizon which is currently taking a waiting list and will be Glossy Box's direct UK competition! Boudoir Prive. I have already signed myself up of course and I don't intend to subscribe to two such similar services so Glossy Box could be over before it begun if it doesn't pull something fantastic out of the bag very soon.

What Do We Think!

Ok so I'm going out tomorrow night and Nothing dressy fits me!!! I would really like to wear a dress because it's so warm now but I think jeans may be my only option. So.. I'm putting my chosen outfit to the vote! Yay or Nay? I still have time to find something in my mess of a closet so don't be shy...

NO JACKET

BUMP SHOT
Please ignore my messy background I've had out every item of clothing I own!

Tea for Two

*what I'm wearing*

I put in an order online at Very.com recently and this is one of the dresses I got. It's from the Holly Willoughby collection and I really like it. THe top part gapes which is why I had to wear a trusty primark vest to hide my modesty but otherwise It's really nicely cut and I like the shoulders.. it's not like anything else I have so it's a welcome addition. I don't think it will fit me much longer but while it does it showcases my bump rather well.. don't you think?
It falls just above the knee and I wore black tights and patent black flat pumps.
My necklaces.. the hamsa hand was made by me and the longer key is from Forever 21

What's Sexy?

It's a question that will get you a different answer everytime you ask it so I thought I would put it to my readers! What IS sexy? We beauty junkies do a lot in the name of vanity but what are you striving to achieve? What do you think is attractive? I change my mind all the time, Come summer I want to be tanned and Victoria's  Secret - esque but when the colder weather breaks I favour a more "pale and interesting" look. There are so many different styles out there...

Vintage Vixen

Sunkissed and Sultry

Plastic Playmate

Tattood Temptress

Good Girl

What do you think is the ultimate one?

Oh! Olivia Palermo

Until now I feel I have totally missed out on the Olivia Palermo love-fest that has swept the fashion community. I disliked her intensely in The City and switched off because of her and her alone. In spite of this I find myself strangely drawn to her. She looks pretty darn fabulous in everything she wears and her hair... *sigh* her hair! Now I'll admit she has worn some pretty terrible outfits (in my opinion). She definitely pushes the boundaries of her personal style but all the same.. here are some of my favourite shots of her...

She just makes it look so effortless... you can see why I hated her for so long!
I am seriously lusting after her glossy locks too. The worst thing is my hair is very similar to her natural colour and I have dyed it for so long it's probably never going to grow out to its natural state because I just don't think I could stand the regrowth but oh how I wish I could. Actually while I'm wishing for things I wish this hair colour had been trendy when I was 11 and still had it!

PS

Is it me or does she look really similar to Willa Holland from The OC?
No? Just me then.

I just can't DYE!

For those of you that follow my Baby Blog you will have already seen this picture and have an idea of what this post will be about. Since I fell pregnant my hair has behaved more than a little strangely. It all fell out and broke off when I bleached it (yes I was damaging my hair but it is usually very resilliant) It is getting greasy so much faster and my virgin hair at my roots dont appear to be retaining any colour when I use a home hair dye.
This has left me with this unattractive regrowth that I really not loving. You can't really tell unless you're in the right light and you're really looking at my roots but I know it's there and I need to do something. I'm not sure there's much point in colouring again because I don't think much will happen so my plan is this..
You know I have been a firm fan of ColourB4 in the past and I thought that this was as good a time as any to give it another whirl. I'm hoping it will lighten up enough to then dye a closer colour to my roots so my regrowth wont be as noticeable and my hair colour will require less maintenance for the remainder of my pregnancy and while I'm busy with the new baby.
I am popping out now to pick up a bottle so wish me luck and I will of course report my results.
If you've had any similar experiences with your hair I would love to hear from you, leave me a comment!

Networking is KEY

Hey you GUYS!!!
I've finally started using my facebook page. I set it up just before Christmas and just never really did much with it. I linked formspring (mistake lol) and then left it to its own devices, I've just figured out how to publish my blogposts automatically to the profile (this will be the test so fingers crossed) so I'd tell those of you that are interested where you can find me and friend me on the facebook forum!!!
I want to keep my YouTube stuff away from my personal stuff so I have a whole seperate page and wont be revealing my personal one for various reasons but I will try and keep on top of this so you have another way of contacting me.

Crest Whitestrips Review

I picked up these Crest Vivid Whitestrips a couple of weeks ago and promised a review so here it is...
They are the mildest version of the infamous strips so I wasn't expecting a Kandee Johnson smile overnight but I was expecting SOMETHING. I got 10 pouches with a strip for my upper a lower teeth. I have now completed the course and so can share my results with you. I took daily photos after Wearing the strips for 30mins and brushing my teeth.. before you say anything... yes I am aware I have crooked teeth!

Okay... so I got results but they aren't exactly going to set the world alight are they?
My teeth are noticeably whiter but I don't feel the result will be permanent and the roots of my lower teeth still seem yellow. My top teeth are much whiter so I am pleased but I am still disappointed. It hasn't put me off trying the stronger strips so watch this space for news on that in the coming months. These strips seemed different to ones I've seen people review on YT, they weren't stiff, they were like a mixture between clingfilm and bubble wrap  for your teeth.. very odd and very difficult to get used to and to keep in your mouth. I don't know if we had an older pack or if it is just the vivid strips but they were not at all what I was expecting. Another thing I noticed was that sensitivity increased towards to end of the course but I'm pleased to report that that wore off a day or two after I stopped using them.
Overall it's a mixed review I suppose. I wasn't super impressed but I wouldn't say no to another box in the future. They definitely did something, maybe my expectations were too high.
Here is the before any after again..

If you've tried these strips or would like to recommend others please do! I am definitely going to try some other form of home whitening before our wedding next year so leave me a comment if you've found the holy grail of home whitening!
